Transformations

I made some plant inspired panels quite a while ago but confess that it can be too easy to put off cementing since it is messy, hard work and you need a decent amount of uninterrupted time to do it properly.  Any cement that is not cleaned out properly because it gets dark or there is something else that needs doing and it sets and spoils the finish and appearance of the whole panel.

So finally, I steeled myself and having another piece ready for the Hatfield Living Arts event I got down to an afternoon of cementing.

If you don't make glass panels, the powder is whiting, it mixes in with the cement as you push it under the lead and it also helps to dry it.  It's one thing getting it on there but then you have to clear it all off again with brushes, sticks and scrapers and sheets and sheets of the Watford free paper.  The reward is the satisfying finished look.  So I'm glad that I made the effort and now just need to make some stands to display them properly.
